Preserving White Pines - An Introduction
At Mayer Tree Service, we understand the importance of protecting and preserving nature, even amidst construction projects. Our recent collaboration with Newport Construction at the Milton Trolley Station exemplifies this commitment. This project aims to put in a handicap ramp while ensuring the pre-existing white pines are protected. Here’s how we managed to preserve these towering beauties for future generations.
Preserving the White Pines: First Steps
During our initial visit, we carefully planned and executed trenching around the three magnificent white pines. By working closely with the skilled excavators from Newport Construction, we ensured minimal disruption to the trees’ root systems. It’s crucial when working near trees to prevent damage that could lead to long-term health issues.
Post-Trenching Protective Measures
Following the trenching process, we took further protective measures. A blend of loam and mulch was laid around the base of the trees. This not only helps in retaining moisture but also provides essential nutrients as the mulch decomposes. To further protect the roots, we fenced off the area, signaling to others the importance of these trees.
Awareness and Education
In addition to physical protection, awareness is key. We’ve placed signages around the site to inform the public of our efforts. Part of this is to advertise Mayer Tree Service’s dedication to eco-friendly practices, but more importantly, it’s to show that there is a sustainable plan in place.
