SUGAR MAPLE REMOVAL - A DANGEROUS THREAT
When it comes to trees that can pose a threat to your home, sugar maples are often one of the culprits. These trees, although beautiful in their prime, can become dangerous as they age and succumb to disease or other environmental factors. In this particular case, we have a sugar maple with several red flags.
SIGNS YOU NEED SUGAR MAPLE REMOVAL
- Woodpecker Holes:
One of the most obvious indicators of a frail tree is the presence of woodpecker holes. While they might seem small and insignificant, woodpecker activity is often a sign of decay inside. The tree’s integrity is compromised, and the larger the hole, the weaker the wood. - Dying Back:
When a tree begins to die back aggressively, with large branches turning lifeless or breaking off without cause, it’s a clear red flag. In our video, you’ll see some branches are lingering over the house, creating a potential hazard. They can snap unexpectedly and cause significant damage if not addressed. - Location and Soil Profile:
The position of your tree matters as well. For instance, if it’s outgrowing its soil profile, as seen in our example, where the tree sits perilously at the corner of a structure, it becomes a pressing issue to address. - Deadwood and Brittleness:
A tree with a considerable amount of deadwood is particularly concerning. Sugar maples, known to be somewhat brittle, can easily succumb to wind or snowstorms. This tree revealed a substantial amount of deadwood, indicating it might only take one severe weather event to bring it crashing down. - Structural Damage:
If you observe significant cracks or damage in the tree structure, especially around the base, consider it a sign that the tree is nearing the end of its lifespan.
