DEAD TREES AND TREE LIMBS ARE A HUGE LIABILITY RISK
Your trees can put you at a huge liability risk if they are not properly maintained
What do you see when you look at the photo above:
- People having fun
- Parents watching their kids game
- Fans enjoying a sport
- Families gathered under a beautiful tree to avoid record heat
As an arborist, I see something else entirely and it is not good.
Dead Trees and Dead Tree Limbs Are Safety Risk
My son was playing a baseball
game at a college field near Boston on one of the crazy hot days we had recently. It always amazes me how much people love trees on these days.
Obviously, baseball games are not known for shade. So the throngs of parents stake their claim under the few trees in the area.

The huddled masses squeeze together in an attempt to avoid heat stroke. When I see this my tree nerd instincts automatically kick in.

My eyes instantly scan the tree for broken and dead limbs.

As the picture shows this one is a doozy! YIKES!
A big beautiful red oak growing against all odds on the edge of a parking lot above the stands and an asphalt path.
The perfect shady place to put a chair and cooler of Gatorade

Or is it?
Uh oh! Can you say danger, liability, deferred maintenance?
Dead Tree Limbs Must Be Pruned For Safety
Baseball lifer parents are always on high alert for a foul ball but how about a dead oak limb that could literally kill you?

Unfortunately, I see this all the time.
It is usually an oversight. Sometimes towns don’t have the resources to pay to have their trees pruned.
In this instance, I don’t think money is an issue.
Do Not Wait To Prune Dead Tree Limbs
We all want to put the crosswalk in at the dangerous intersection. Unfortunately, too often it gets installed AFTER something awful happens.
Don’t wait for something awful to happen on your property!
Have your trees inspected and pruned by a professional.
